B-3Rob Mostert - Hammond B-3 Sander van Wonderen - Rhodes Trinus de Vries - Saxophone Sarina Reilingh - Vocals Bert Schipper - Drums As the name says, the band B-3 was formed around the great Hammond B-3 organ. Originally used as an affordable substitute for a pipe organ in gospel churches, the Hammond B-3 soun became an important instrument in jazz and other soulful music. Since hammond player Rob Mostert plays 25 bass pedals (with his bare feet), the band needs no bass player. Sander van Wonderen plays vintage keyboard, why play sampling machines when you can have the real thing? His playing on the Fender Rhodes and Wurlitzer piano's blend really nice and the sound of the Hohner Clavinet is simply unique. The Selmer Mark VI tenor saxophone completes the vintage picture. The gold lacquered 1960 instrument can be played in a zillion ways: melancholic, smooth, hard, rough around the edges. You name it; Trinus de Vries can play it. Bert Schipper is one of the rare drummers who can be creative and challenging, but who is not afraid to play a basic solid rhytm. Singer Sarina also paid her dues. Her voice, though not at all vintage, sounds surprisingly mature and can send a chill up and down your spine. Website: http://www.b-3.nl CD's: |
